Supply Chain Development

The Support Group, in collaberation with Yorkshire Enterprise Limited and the Yorkshire Engineering, Manufacturing and Materials RIS Board, has devised an innovatice programm to help major purchasing companies influence the development of their SME Supply Chain.

The aims of this initiative are to support manufacturing companies by assisting these companies’ suppliers and potential suppliers to improve competitive performance by pro-actively developing their supply chains.

This will be achieved by assisting these organisations’ existing first and subsequently lower tier suppliers to improve performance to a position in which they can consistently and profitably meet the purchasing organisation’s requirements for quality, delivery and price.

There is also a need to identify potential SME suppliers who do not currently supply and assist these to improve to a position from which they can successfully bid for local major purchasing organisation business.

A potential benefit of this initiative will be to reduce imports of materials and components.
