Value
Legislation for local government places a duty on Local Authorities (and
a range of other public sector services) to ensure Best Value in both
the purchase and delivery of goods and services. The meeting of these
requirements is to be verified by a process of external audit.
Through Best Value the Government is looking for Continuous Improvement
in the delivery of public services to clear standards, by the most effective
and efficient means and in a way that is accountable to local people.
The EFQM Excellence Model has won recognition as an ideal framework to
underpin Best Value programme methodologies and is in use by many Local
Authorities as the means to ensure internally that external audit requirements
will be met.
Support Group Consulting and its Associates have experience of working
with the links between Best Value and the Excellence Model, developing
suitable implementation programmes and of advising on use of the Model
for this purpose.
