Andrew Cooper

 

Andrew Cooper is an experienced and well-qualified engineer. Initially completing a technician apprenticeship and gaining a HNC in Production Engineering during which he was awarded apprentice of the year on two occasions. Andrew subsequently went onto graduate from a B.Eng Degree in Engineering from Coventry University and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Project from Lancaster University through part-time study. He is currently completing a Doctorate at Leeds Metropolitan University in Flexible Manufacturing.

His industrial experience was gained from working for leading tier one automotive component suppliers and has held positions from apprentice, Production Engineer, Project Manager, Production Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Director through to Managing Director and Company Secretary. He has worked for the Valor Group, Coventry Presswork, Brose and V.A.W Group.

Industry based training includes specialist training by Toyota OMCD in Nagoya, Japan on the implementation of T.P.S., a Diploma in Accounting and Finance, and a work/method study Instructor Certificate for MTM 1, 2, 3 and Standard Data.

Throughout his career Andrew has been heavily involved on process improvement activities to increase business efficiency. As Manufacturing Director at Brose Limited, the company achieved recognition in the Management Today Best Factory Awards as ‘Best Engineering Factory 1998’. In his most recent role as Managing Director of V.A.W motorcast Limited, he led the company successfully through QS9000 and ISO14001 approval and a major business restructuring programme prior to the sale of the business to Hydro Aluminium Group.
